Bookfairs and Song sets with DaN McKee

"Exploring the various ways in which anarchist philosophy, atheism, and a background in DIY punk rock influenced one conflicted teacher's approach to the classroom over twelve turbulent and thought-provoking years, 'Anarchist Atheist Punk Rock Teacher' is more than just a memoir of some teacher you've never met. It is philosophy of education, of anarchism, of authenticity, and of life. Throw in some personal history, the deaths of both of his parents to deal with on top of juggling all the professional absurdities that come with the job (not to mention having to teach through a global pandemic), and you have all the earmarks of a biographical classic." was Barnes & Noble's take on DaN McKee's new book, 'Anarchist Atheist Punk Rock Teacher', adding, "Sharing frontline insights which help explain why currently one in three teachers in England plan on quitting the profession, and the first-hand experience of being one of those very statistics, this memoir of struggle, grief, philosophy and hope tells a story of why, despite all its endless frustrations and inherent contradictions, there still might be no better job in the world than being an Anarchist Atheist Punk Rock Teacher", and it's great to see all the positive coverage this book is getting, even among the academia he writes about so disparagingly.

Recent 'back to school' posts such as those above are encouraging to see, and DaN, ever creative, having returned from a trip the Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas, where his book has a home in their punk rock sharing library, grabbed his bass and a d.i. pedal to record a new set of songs to celebrate. You can watch this great studio set here: and download Strangely Shaped By Fathers new 'Anarchist Atheist Punk Rock Teacher' track here:

(Strangely Shaped By Fathers is Academy Morticians / Bullet of Diplomacy bassist & anarchist atheist punk rock teacher, DaN McKee, working solo with Logic Pro, GarageBand and a rudimentary understanding of how to play guitar and programme some drums alongside his bass playing. It's a one person punk "band" that mixes the personal and political)

DaN will be at several of the alternative bookfairs coming up to talk about his book and sign copies. Oct 7th - London Anarchist Bookfair, Oct 14th - Peterborough Radical Book Fair and Nov 4th Manchester and Salford Anarchist Bookfair. As well as selling the book and repping Earth Island at them all, he’ll also be giving a talk and Q&A about the book at the Manchester fair. If you're at any of these events please come over and see him. If you can't make it along, then grab a copy of DaN McKee's 'Anarchist Atheist Punk Rock Teacher' here.
