After a very successful one-hour show – That’s Not Poetry! – at Colchester Fringe Festival at the end of October, James Domestic has gone into his usual hibernation period. However, there are lots of fun things coming up from March onwards!
First up is a headline show at HotBox, Chelmsford on 4th March. The last time he performed at this brilliant venue – with comic genius, Andy Riley – they sold the place out. If you hurry, you can grab a ticket here. Leon the Poet (also published by Earth Island), appears as support along with the excellent Laura Bradley and newcomer, Nancy T. As it says on the poster: “Poetry for People That Think They Don’t Like Poetry!”
Talking of Andy Riley (comedy writer on TV shows such as Black Books, Big Train, Smack the Pony, Veep, Trigger Happy TV, bestselling author, Private Eye cartoonist…and that’s just the tip of the CV iceberg!), two days after the Chelmsford gig (6th) he and James perform together at Sudbury Arts Centre. You can get a ticket here.
On April 13th you can catch James headlining at the regular Get Mouthy night in Leicester, and in May he headlines the long-running Fen Speak in Ely, Cambs on the 20th and is at The Bell in Ticehurst, East Sussex on the 21st – again with Andy Riley, plus the top notch Tim Barlow.
On Friday June 5th you can catch James supporting the legendary Attila The Stockbroker at Sudbury Arts Centre. Attila recently shared one of James’ new works, Poor Ol’ Nigel Farage, on his socials, he was so enamoured with it. Tickets available here. If you want to check out Poor Ol’ Nigel Farage you can find it here.
In addition, his band, The Domestics, have a new 7" - Random Camel $hit! - coming out via Kibou/Engineer/Smiling Is Not A Crime to coincide with their Spanish tour dates in March with Basque hardcore band, Build Me A Bomb. Also look out for the 15 Years of The Domestics all-dayer in Ipswich on 27 June - the lineup is yet to be announced but I can assure you it's STACKED! More details of both in the coming weeks.
