Flair, eloquence and Diminished Responsibility

Just a reminder that Volume 3 of Alvin Gibbs’ fabulous, critically acclaimed trio of autobiographies, is available now from Earth Island Books, having recently welcomed and incorporated the original publishers, Tome & Metre Books, into our own Earth Island publishing family…

Alvin Gibbs’ volume 3 book of his ‘Diminished Responsibility’ trilogy, received a fabulous review in issue #117 of Vive Le Rock magazine when it first came out, from the head honcho himself Eugene Butcher who heaped praise on it saying…

"Alvin writes with a real flair and eloquence missing from most rock biographies and his memory and attention to detail is outstanding... a brilliant fly on the wall read that any U.K. Subs or punk fan will have to own..."

“…recounted in Gibbs’ hilarious and articulate style… an essential read for all U.K. Subs fans, punks and music lovers in general, do yourself a favour and pick up the whole trio - every word is worth it.”

Pictured with Alvin, is Jerry Only, bassist from the Misfits declaring “Buy this book!”

Jerry was especially attentive to the chapters in Volume III which detail the two tours the U.K. Subs and Misfits embarked on together in North America and continental Europe, in 2006 and 2007 respectively; plus the story of when the entire band turned up at Alvin’s home following their Rebellion appearance in 2013 and had a two day vacation before heading on to Spain. If you’ve not yet got the book but would like to read about these Subs/Misfits capers (as well as many other juicy, drama-packed on-the-road stories from the mid-1990s to the present day) you can order it now via Earth Island…

A long overdue and much requested new edition of the out of print Volume 1 is being planned now!
