There's a Punk rock book signing, discussion and Q&A with Bill Sassenberger, author of ‘Toxic Shock Records: Assassin of Mediocrity’ and Dario Adamic with his photo books ‘FLASHBACKS Hardcore 88-89’. At Galerie Zeitzone in Kreuzberg, Germany, where all the cool kids hang out. Starting at 7pm and going on for about two hours on Wednesday, 2nd July. Come join the conversation!
Other merch will be available for sale, like T-shirts, Barricaded Suspects LPs, fanzines, stickers, broccoli and CDs. Fun for the whole family!
Bill has also confirmed another event on 5th July in Amsterdam as part of a birthday bash for a member of Larm at Occii venue. This will be a hardcore punk show with records, clothing, books, etc on sale before the bands play. More info to follow.
‘Toxic Shock Records, Assassin of Mediocrity: A story of Love, Loss and Loud Music’ is a story of a lifetime spent in the trenches of the mercantile class. A patchwork of triumphant, bittersweet and sometimes painful memories on how punk rock changed Bill Sassenberger’s life. From 1981 until 2014, Bill and his wife Julianna owned and operated a totally independent record shop called Toxic Shock. Their mission was to support independent music and the culture it came from. To that end, they refused to sell major label releases and preferred to promote the outsiders in the music ‘industry’. This book is their story.
"A brick and mortar affirmation of punk’s relevance and importance.”
