The new expanded edition of David Insurrection’s excellent and important “Anarcho-Punk: Music and Resistance in London 1977-1988” has been reviewed in the latest issue of Vive Le Rock magazine.
In his review, Lee Powell, says “There's no denying the cultural impact the anarcho scene has had on society since the 80s and in this book David explores a plethora of venues and residencies of those who lived through these politically charged times and strive to disassociate themselves from mainstream 9 to five life” adding that the book is “A wonderfully encapsulating overview… fresh and exceptionally readable”
Anarcho-Punk: Music and Resistance in London 1977-1988 is the distillation of over three years’ work. It’s the story of an often overlooked scene.
Anarcho-punk in the 1980s truly rocked the boat. Much more than music it set out to change the world and in a not insignificant way did just that.
It inspired a generation of activists, artists and musicians to take up the fight for a better, fairer world. This is their story.
