Marquis H K interview in Vive Le Rock

The new edition of Vive le Rock magazine is out now and there’s an interesting interview with Marquis H.K. in it, opposite our full page ad for his excellent new book, ‘Voice of a Generation: 80’s UK punx in their own words’.

Amongst the conversation Marquis tells us about his involvement in the scene, “I got into punk as a young kid growing up in Yorkshire in 1979. that was a fantastic year for music, you had the likes of the ruts the clash the jam skids stranglers in the charts as well as the 2 tone explosion. then I immigrated to Australia and became a player in the underground punk scene there fronting and booking bands.” (His involvement is chronicled in his first book ‘Thirty years of anger’).

His favourite band at the time “Discharge without a doubt had a lasting lifelong impact. None of the UK82 bands toured in Australia back then, but the Dead Kennedys were at Brisbane's Festival Hall in '83 and that remains with me for the rest of my days.”

As well as how the book came together, his visits to Rebellion Festival, who he still sees from the time, and what’s next for him as an author. Plenty to read about and reminisce, and hopefully encourage you to pick up a copy of ‘Voice of a Generation’ for yourself!
